In inviting me, a priest and psychoanalyst, to pay homage to Freud, the organizers of this conference* have accepted a risk along with their choice. They thought that religious values as such have not suffered and that they could even benefit from psychoanalysis in its essential point: a METHOD of research — a TECHNIQUE for straightening out the psyche — and a therapeutic ATTITUDE.
