Semiotics 2008 contains the proceedings of the 33rd annnual meeting of the Semiotic Society of America, held October 16-19, 2008. The Semiotic Society of America is an interdisciplinary professional organization that supports innovative scholarship linking analytical and critical approaches to the postmodern world. Each year it sponsors a meeting organized around a particular theme, and each conference volume is based on the theme of the conference. The theme of this meeting was "Specialization, Semiosis, Semiotics". It attracted a wide gamut of approaches from several disciplines. Contributors include Joe Balay, Per Aage Brandt, Brooke Wiiliams Deely, Eliseo Fernández, Elliot Gaines, Nataliya Semchynska-Uhl, Stéphanie Walsh Matthews, and many others.
