José Anoz Hablar del Inefable. Agustín y el lenguaje religioso

The article deals with the Augustinian aporia according to which, even though it is impossible and illicit for believers to be silent about God, it is precisely the adoring silence which better suits the Ineffable. Nevertheless something can be said about him, because in fact and at least the Divine Word become flesh has revealed God as Father. The article depicts the Augustinian contexts in which one can talk about God, and shows how to do it, according to Saint Augustine.

The article shows how Saint Augustine arrived at the formula una persona in a strict christological sense, by means of the grammatical exegesis. This is attempted in three steps: The grammatical exegesis in Augustine’s education and usage; Grammatical exegesis and Christology in St. Augustine; Christological concepts prior and contemporary to St. Augustine.

9. Augustinus: Volume > 54 > Issue: 212/213
Michael P. Foley, Enrique Eguiarte Agustín, Aristóteles y las ‘Confesiones’
abstract | view |  rights & permissions | cited by
The way in which Augustine engages Aristotle’s thought in the Confessions reveals much about the extent to which and manner in which he was capable of benefiting from non-Platonic sources. It is therefore the goal of this article to scrutinize that engagement as closely as possible in an effort to better surmise Augustine’s relationship to the non-Platonic veins of classical philosophy.
10. Augustinus: Volume > 54 > Issue: 212/213
Wim François, Enrique Eguiarte Exégesis bíblica agustiniana en la Lovaina del siglo XVI
abstract | view |  rights & permissions | cited by
The article deals with the marks that sixteenth century augustinianism left on biblical exegesis at the Louvain Faculty of Theology. As an example of it, the works of Cornelius Jansenius of Ghent are studied, stressing their double purpose: the scholarly exegetical approach, and the spiritual and pastoral-liturgical goal. The works of Thomas Stapleton, Promptuaria and Antidota, are studied, outlining their intention of counteracting the biblical interpretations of Calvin, Beza and the other reformers.
11. Augustinus: Volume > 54 > Issue: 212/213
Concetta Scibetta, Enrique Eguiarte ‘Confesiones’ 5, 15 de Agustín. Una reescritura a modo de palimpsesto
abstract | view |  rights & permissions | cited by
The article studies the lexical parallelism between the text of Conf 5,15 and the Aeneid. From this parallel, semantic and semiotic conclusions are drawn, to show that one of the texts which lies under Conf 5, 15 as an hypotext is the text of Virgil’s Aeneid, books IV-VI.
