Spirituality is deeply important, especially for contemporary times, because it’s such an alienating time. And at the end of the day I am a believing Muslim. I am a sceptical Muslim, in the sense that I believe in asking questions and I would ask those questions that many Muslims would not even dream of asking. But that doesn’t make me a non-believer. So in that sense I’m not a secularist. Religion plays a very important part in my life, in what I believe, how I look at the world, what I do and how I behave.
